Newfire is seeking a Director of Software Quality Assurance with SaaS experience to drive the modernization and spearhead the development of a unified, next-generation clinical technology platform for a current healthcare client. This new platform will serve as the foundation for all clinical data and operations across every line of business. By creating a robust and innovative solution, this leader will enable enhanced care management, utilization management, and data-driven decision-making—ultimately working to improve healthcare outcomes for millions of Americans.
You’re a Perfect Match If You Have:
Leadership Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, and retain QA talent in fast-moving environments.
  • 5+ years managing QA in complex software ecosystems.
Technical Fluency
  • Experience across multiple testing types (unit, integration, E2E, performance, exploratory) and environments (web, cloud, data).
  • Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript testing frameworks a plus.
Tooling Expertise
  • Hands-on experience with tools like Zephyr, Xray, TestRail, Playwright, Postman, and Jira.
  • You understand when to buy vs. build, and how to integrate QA into CI/CD.
AI Curiosity and Opinions
  • A strong perspective—and practical experience—on how AI should (and shouldn’t) be used to accelerate and improve QA practices.
Healthcare Mindset
  • A deep appreciation for the role software quality plays in patient safety, data integrity, and provider trust.

Nice to Have

  • Background in healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience with test data management and synthetic data generation.
  • Familiarity with Gherkin, BDD frameworks, or Cucumber.
  • Contributions to open-source QA tooling or communities.
Role & responsibilities
The Director of Software Quality Assurance will lead our QA function and elevate the quality and reliability of our software products. You will be responsible for driving a comprehensive quality strategy that includes enforcing unit test practices within development teams, building and scaling a high-performing team of Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs), and owning the QA lifecycle within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). This is a hands-on leadership role for someone passionate about automation, process improvement, and engineering excellence. You will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, DevOps, and leadership to ensure our solutions meet the highest standards of functionality, performance, and security.

QA Strategy & Leadership
  • Define and execute a scalable, automation-first QA strategy aligned with business and engineering goals.
  • Establish quality standards, practices, and metrics across the development lifecycle.
  • Integrate QA practices seamlessly into the SDLC, from planning through deployment and monitoring.
Build & Lead a World-Class QA Team
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of SDETs focused on test automation (functional, integration, regression, performance, and API).
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement within the QA team.
  • Set clear goals and performance expectations for team members.
Engineering Partnership
  • Partner closely with development teams to promote unit test coverage, TDD/BDD practices, and testable architecture.
  • Work with DevOps and platform teams to implement and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines that include comprehensive test suites.
  • Advocate for quality from requirements through delivery.
Own the Quality Lifecycle
  • Define and enforce quality standards from requirements through release.
  • Implement robust test plans across frontend, backend, APIs, and data pipelines.
Tools & Infrastructure
  • Select and implement industry-leading QA tools and frameworks for test automation, performance testing, and reporting.
  • Oversee the design and maintenance of automated test infrastructure to support continuous testing.
  • Stay ahead of the curve on leveraging AI and ML for test case generation, predictive quality analytics, and intelligent regression coverage.
Metrics & Reporting
  • Define and track quality KPIs such as defect leakage, test coverage, MTTR, and test execution velocity.
  • Report on quality trends and continuously identify areas for improvement.
Champion Quality Culture
  • Promote a culture of rigor, low tolerance for mediocrity, and accountability to patients and users.
  • Lead postmortems on production issues and ensure learnings are institutionalized.
The Offer
Newfire Global is committed to consistent compensation practices across our organization. Total compensation for this role is market driven, with a salary of $199,000- $255,000. Base pay is ultimately determined based on a candidate's skills, expertise, and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental & vision coverage, health spending accounts, voluntary benefits, leave of absence policies, Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) program with employer contribution, Flexible work schedules and time-off policy, as well as company equipment for all new full-time US-based remote employees.
